Junior - B.S.A.
Senior - Norton

Age 29, William Roberton comes from Stenhousemuir, Scotland and is a chrome plater. (Stray thought; Can be relied upon for a sparkling finish?).

He has been racing on Scottish circuits since 1951, gaining various places, and was third, on a G.P. Triumph, in last year’s 500 c.c. Scottish Speed Championships at Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy. He was also tenth, on a B.S.A., in the 1954 Junior Clubman’s race, and 30th in the Junior Manx, in which he gained a replica. The same machine was used for both races, and the only maintenance carried out on the engine between the events was the fitting of new valve springs.

The B.S.A. was timed at 111 m.p.h. on Sulby Straight last September, and Roberton says that with aid of certain weight reductions he has carried out he hopes to increase this speed.
