Lewis Young

Biography: Age 27, Lewis Patrick Young is an engineer and comes from Cheshunt, Herts. The 1958 Junior race was his first T.T., but it was not his first experience of the Mountain Course, for he had ridden in the 1957 Junior Manx Grand Prix and finished 21st at 81.89 m.p.h., winning a Replica. He has also had plenty of short circuit experience and in the past few years has scored places at Cadwell Park, Castle Combe, Crystal Palace, SiIverstone, Brand's Hatch and Snetterton. In I 1958 he was 42nd in the Junior T.T. on his A.J.S. and won a Bronze replica.

In 1959 he rode a 500 c.c. Norton in the Formula 1 race, in which he finished 12th at 87.13. m.p.h., and was on the same machine in the Senior T.T., where unfortunately he had to retire on the fourth lap. He did not compete in the T.T. last year. He is entered for both races by John Miller Motorcycles. (TT Special, 16 June 1961, p27)
