Biography: Born in Birkenhead in 1859 to a Glaswegian family, he studied in Paris under Jean-Joseph Benjamin Constant and Jules Joseph Lefebvre, going on to exhibit with the RSA and at Paris Salon. He later returned to his native Glasgow, becoming a member of the city's Art Club as well as creating 97 works now kept at the Glasgow Gallery.
