Woollen Framed Medallion Quilt

Date made: early 20th century

Description: A framed cotton and woollen medallion patchwork quilt with a central square surrounded by concentric bands. It is made of a variety of fabrics, including printed and plain cottons, woollen fabrics and suiting and skirt fabrics. The quilt is predominantly pale blue, pink, beige and pale green.

The quilt is backed with a cream coloured woollen blanket and is bound on one side with a line of hand-sewn running stitch and on the rest with blanket stitch in white cotton thread. The quilt is hand-quilted in a lattice pattern of diamonds with white cotton thread and does not contain any filling.
