Knockaloe bone pin cushion
Date made: 1914-1918
Description: Knockaloe bone pin cushion. Wooden base with carved section of animal bone (three sided). 'Peace A Blessing' with leaf border, clockwise three legs of Man inked in shield, 'From CHR'. Green velvet cushion with velvet patch. Made by Knockaloe internee for donor's grandfather Tommy Kinrade from Patrick who was a general labourer (road repair) at the camp. 7 x 7.4 x 7.1 cm. Mahogany wooden base.
The recipient of this item would appear to be Thomas Kinrade, who appears on the 1911 Census aged 56, and who gave his occupation as 'working on high road' employed by Isle of Man Highways Board. He was living at Kerrookeil, Patrick.
