Cotton Framed Medallion Quilt

Description: A cotton framed medallion patchwork quilt made using six different patterned materials with a series of ten borders working towards a central square of circular motifs, cut from one of the patterned materials. The quilt contains a variety of cotton prints, predominantly floral and plain fabrics, and the centre of the quilt is dominated by red, white and purple colours.
The patchwork quilt is backed with white cotton sheeting and is hand quilted in a zig zag pattern using white cotton thread. The edges of the quilt are bound with one line of hand-sewn running stitch, in white cotton thread. The quilt does not contain any wadding/ filling.
The quilt belonged to the donor's family, either the Kinnish family of Mullinaragher or the Moores of Santon.
