Medal group of Private William Faragher MM

Description: These medals were awarded to Private William Faragher, a soldier from St Marks in the Isle of Man. The most important is the Military Medal, awarded for bravery in the field. The remainder are campaign medals, including the Africa Star, Italy Star, and France and Germany Star.
The medals are mounted on a bar for wearing, with the Military Medal first. All bear either the bust or the cipher of His Majesty King George VI, the reigning monarch.
Private Faragher served with the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire). During fighting in Italy in 1944 he went out under fire to rescued a fellow Manxman, who was lying wounded in No Mans Land, a deed which earned him the Military Medal.
