Description: A handmade christening gown made by a female internee at Rushen Internment Camp during the Second World War. The gown is possibly made from parachute silk.
The item was made by female internees in the Rushen internment camp for the donor when she was a baby and for her christening (c.1942-3). The donor’s parents had a coal merchants in Port St Mary and her aunt had a boarding house in Port Erin.
