Printed Cotton Day Dress

Date made: 19th century

Description: Cotton day dress. Small purple sprig pattern printed on fawn. The purple dye has bled in places to give the dress a mauve appearance. High necked buttoned bodice, buttons probably added later. Long sleeves with cuffs decorated with crocheted cotton, again probably a later addition. Lined with white cotton, plain braid at hem and hem facing is of a complementary woven patterned fabric.
