Lamps are Allowed
Date made: 1941
Artist: Miller, Harold 'Dusty'
Description: Satirical cartoon drawn for Isle of Man Times newspaper. Torches of the powers that be shine through ARP fog to reveal rabbits portraying lack of equipment & lack of enthusiasm.
This cartoon appeared on 6 December 1941, and reflects an item in that week's news that under limited circumstances lamps would be allowed to be used in the hunting of rabbits at night, though this must not enganger life by offering a target to enemy aircraft. In Dusty's cartoon the lamps reveal the difficulties surrounding the establishment of proper ARP provisions on the Isle of Man.
