Description: The Isle of Man Steam Packet vessel, S.S. Ellan Vannin. The oil painting is signed and dated 'F.Gill 1911' and depicts the vessel at night at sea. The painting depicts the 'Ellan Vannin' in a very rough sea crossing and it may be a comemorative painting of the 'Ellan Vannin' on her last crossing from Ramsey to Liverpool on the 3rd December 1909 when she sank at the Liverpool Bar. The painting shows the 'Ellan Vannin' in the foreground with a smaller vessel in the background.
