St Patrick's Isle Pagan Lady Burial Glass Bead
Date made: Viking: 800-1265
Description: One globular clear colourless glass melon cut bead. The cutting pattern is at an angle rather than vertical grooves. Very badly broken into four pieces, but with lots more fractures and fragments breaking off. Micating and degraded.
Scientific analysis of chemical composition by Julian Henderson showed a content of mostly silica dioxide for the matrix and that the decoration contains lead oxide.
