Woollen Wholecloth Quilt
Date made: mid 19th century
Description: Navy blue woollen wholecloth quilt.
The quilt has a navy blue dyed top made of two pieces of cloth sewn together to produce a wholecloth quilt. It is backed with a cream coloured woollen blanket, also made by sewing together two pieces of cloth.
The woollen quilt is hand-quilted with black thread in a zig-zag pattern. It does not contain any filling.
The quilt was made for Thomas Cottier of Ballamenagh, great great grandfather of Esther Cannell who donated the quilt to the Manx Museum.
