The painting appears to be influenced by the Surrealist artist Magritte and contains Surrealist visual references to God/ Christ. These references include: baptism of Christ (figure in water), figure is giving the sign of peace/ benediction (right hand), Christ as the 'Light of the World' (light bulb), original sin (apples), cruciform/ cross shapes in water.
