Military coat of Sir Mark Cubbon
Date made: early 19th century
Description: Sir Mark Cubbon gained a commission in the army of the HEIC through the influence of his uncle Colonel Mark Wilks. He rose quickly through the ranks to hold administrative office and was governor of Mysore during the 1857 Indian Mutiny.
