Description: Women's black shoulder cape trimmed with three rows of braid and a knotted fringer. 41cm front edge.

From the Mylchreest family of Ballamenaugh, Lonan and Ballaharra, German.

YC note: Ann Quayle (b.1829/ Malew), married William Mylchreest of Ballamenagh Mooar, Lonan (1800-1860) in 1855 and married Henry Wesley Bell of Douglas (1827-1890) in 1879. Ann Mylchreest owned Ballaharra (part of late husband's estates) and the Great Clay Case/ Ballaharra Clay Case was taken to the Chancery Court, Castletown (1867) and to the Privy Council, London to uphold the right of Manx customary freeholders to the clay and sand deposits under their farms - a right which had been challenged by the British Crown (who lost their case).
