Cotton Framed Medallion Quilt
Date made: mid 20th century
Maker: Member of Faragher Family
Description: An unfinished cotton framed medallion patchwork quilt made using a traditional geometric framed pattern surrounding a central floral square. The quilt is in a variety of cotton fabrics from floral to contemporary styled 1920s-30s fabrics. The quilt-maker appears to have used fabric from sample books as many of the patterns are repeated in different colour ways. The quilt is multicoloured with a predominance of black, blue, green and yellow. It has been machine-stitched in various cotton threads including white, yellow, orange and blue.
The quilt is un-backed possibly due to the quilt top not lying flat for quilting onto a backing sheet.
The quilt is from the home of Miss Abigail Faragher, Earystane Smithy, Arbory and was probably made by her.
