Log Cabin Quilt
Date made: late 19th century
Description: A log cabin patchwork quilt with a Turkey red cotton edge, a blue and white floral print cotton border and a log cabin centre. The quilt is predominantly blue, red and white with some brown and grey fabrics. The log cabin squares are a combination of cotton and woollen fabrics, including fine cotton dress fabrics, woollen suit and shirt fabrics.
The quilt is backed with white cotton sheeting and is hand-quilted in a zig-zag pattern using white cotton thread. It has one line of machine stitching around the edges also in white cotton thread to act as binding. The quilt does not contain any filling.
