English-style Pieced Quilt

Description: An English-style pieced patchwork quilt with a central design made up of red polka-dot squares and larger squares of purple paisley material against a plain white ground and a purple paisley patterned border. The pattern is composed of coloured diamonds placed in a grid-shape on a white background with a wide border on all sides of a purple paisley cotton print. The diamonds in the centre are made up of the same fabric, as well as dark and light pink cotton pieces.
The patchwork quilt is backed with two widths of white cotton sheeting and has not been quilted. The quilt does not contain any wadding/ filling and the edges of the quilt are bound with one line of machine stitching on all sides, using white cotton thread.
The quilt belonged to the donor's family, either the Kinnish family of Mullinaragher or the Moores of Ballachurry, Santon.
