Travelling Marshal's motorcycle helmet

Date made: 1979

Description: This helmet was used by Robin Sherry, a Travelling Marshal at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) and Manx Grand Prix (MGP) motorcycle races, in 1979.

It carries a scrutineering sticker from the 1979 TT, as well as the logo of the manufacturer Shoei. The helmet has an integral radio microphone for communication with race control.

The Travelling Marshals are an elite group, who use motorcycles to quickly reach the scene of an incident during a race and check conditions around the course before each race. Robin Sherry, like most other Travelling Marshals, was a former TT and MGP competitor. He won the Junior MGP race in 1951.
