Artist: Swynnerton, Joseph William

Description: A half life-size statue of a female figure entitled 'Mona', representing a physical embodiment of the Isle of Man. The statue was produced by Joseph W. Swynnerton of Douglas (1848-1910) in 1875 when Swynnerton was studying in Rome. It is signed 'Rome 1875'.

Extract from Mona's Herald, Wednesday, September 17, 1930: "The sculpture was first purchased by Mr Peter Bourne Drinkwater; it afterwards came into the possession of Mr George Drinkwater and has been at Kirby Park for some years."
