Cross in Kirk Braddan, Isle of Man

Artist: Griffith, Moses

Description: Handwritten note states: "N.B. this cross is broken but kept together by the iron hoops C. C. and a piece of slate."

Moses Griffith (1749-1819) was a Welsh draughtsman, engraver and water colourist. In 1769 he entered the service of Thomas Pennant of Downing, Flintshire (antiquary and natural historian). Griffiths provided illustrations to most of Pennant's books. In 1774 Griffith made a tour of the Isle of Man with Thomas Pennant and Captain Francis Grose (antiquary and topographical draughtsman).
