Kingston upon Thames

Date made: 1909

Artist: Knox, Archibald

Description: A relatively colourful and detailed watercolour by Archibald Knox (1864-1933) of a view of Kingston bridge, Thames barges and the town of Kingston upon Thames in the background. Knox taught at the nearby Kingston School of Art, so this would have been a familiar view for the artist. Unlike most of his watercolour sketches which are untitled and unidentified views, Knox identified this as 'Kingston upon Thames' and signed and dated it 'A. Knox VI 1909'.
