Knockaloe bone vase
Date made: 1915
Description: A carved beef bone vase, with a polished dark wood base, made in Knockaloe Civilian Internment Camp by an unknown internee. A single flower (simple tulip design) is hand carved in bas relief on the front of the vase; the bone vase has no decoration on the rim or the base. Cornflowers (the German national flower) are carved on the reverse of the vase. The hollow bone vase is attached to the base by a wooden plug screwed to the base.
