Andreas Silver Ingot
Date made: Viking: 800-1265
Description: These are pieces of silver buried in the ground in the Viking Age, around AD 930-980. There are two ingots, one whole and one cut, along with a triangular fragment of a large brooch. During the Viking Age, whole ingots and pieces of cut silver jewellery were used in the place of numerous silver coins as payment for goods. All of the pieces contain more than 50% silver.
These artefacts were found in the north of the Island by Seth Crowe and declared Treasure Trove.
