Falcon Cliff (Douglas)

Description: Falcon Cliff overlooks Douglas Bay on the east coast of the Isle of Man (NGR 23876 47704). Brown's Guide to the Isle of Man of 1900 says, "On the summit of the wooded cliffs overhanging The Palace Grounds, we mark the tower and castellated front of Falcon Cliff, with its pavilion and other building close to it. This is the third of the great amusement palaces which we have passed on our tramway ride; and standing prominently upon the verge of the wooded heights, it is a conspicuous object in the view of Douglas, from almost every point. We may remark in passing, that the view of Douglas Town and Bay from the platform in front of the Falcon Cliff is one of the finest to be obtained from any point." (p.73)
