Ronaldsway Village Cross Slab

Period: Early Medieval

NGR Easting: 229020

NGR Northing: 468580

Description: This thin rectangular slab was found during excavations at Ronaldsway (PRN 0133) in 1935.

The slab is decorated with a narrow beaded border, in the centre of which is an equal-armed compass-drawn ‘cross pattée’ within a double circular frame. Three ‘tau’ crosses are located in the bottom left hand corner. It probably served as an altar front, before being re-used in a lintel grave.
